Yesterday (3 October) I sowed some seeds to replace those that hadn’t germinated well:
Oil seed pumpkin (2 of 9 germinated)*
Butternut squash (0 of 9 germinated)*
Onion – Pukekohe long keeper (hardly any germinated)
Onion – Stuttgart long keeper (many germinated, but I sowed more in case the Pukekohe long keepers don’t germinate again. Also to replace the borettana which didn’t germinate at all)
Tomato – Henry’s dwarf bush cherry, Southern bush, Alma, Henry’s beefsteak (1-2 of each germinated)*
* – these are now in the kitchen (all 6 tomato varieties are on the windowsill)
Today (4 October) I planted out seedlings:
Peas – Henry’s salad pea, Unwin’s king size, Goliath snow pea, Henry’s sugar snap (6 of each). I made the peas a climbing frame from 2 electric fence stakes and bailing twine for each variety.
Broad beans – dwarf early green (my seeds), dwarf early green (Kings seeds), super agua dulce (my seeds), super agua dulce (Kings seeds) (4 of each)
Brassicas – Henry’s Chinese cabbage (4), Chi hi li (6 clumps), Broccoli de cicco (3), Broccoli spring rapini (2), Cabbage Dalmatian (4).
