Yesterday, 11 November, I removed 6 silverbeet plants from the vegetable garden. 1 of these was huge!
My purple glove gives an idea of the size of the plant!
After fertilising, as described in an earlier posting, I planted the following seedlings:
4 x Pumpkin – oil seed
1 x Pumpkin – butternut squash
3 x Tomato – low acid
3 x Tomato – Henry’s beefsteak
3 x Tomato – Island Bay
2 x Tomato – Alma
4 x Tomato – Henry’s dwarf bush cherry
1 x Tomato – Southern bush
6 x Chard – lettuce beet
3 x Chard – rainbow blend (red ones only)
Tomatoes – Low acid (back left), Henry’s beefsteak (front left), Island Bay (back right), Alma (front right)
Tomatoes – Henry’s dwarf bush cherry (front), Southern bush (back)
Chard – Rainbow blend on left, lettuce beet on right
The broad beans I planted in April/May are well and truly ready to eat. Ben and I ate some straight from the pods yesterday. They were sweet and juicy.
