The vegetable garden has suffered from terrible neglect over the summer holidays. As a result I’ve been spending an hour or so every few days to tidy it up. It’s starting to look better!
Weedy garden on left, weeded on right
(many areas were a LOT worse than this!)
The plants that are supposed to be growing in the garden are all doing really well.
Aunty Rita’s runner beans are VERY vigorous growers and the tomato plants are taking over the plastic house!
Potatoes in the new bed
Zucchini/cucumber/pumpkin end of the new bed.
The glasshouse was getting over grown with weeds, so I removed everything, cleaned it up, had the kids repaint the workbench and then moved a lot less stuff back into the glasshouse.
It was also time to cut back the comfrey. All the leaves I removed have been put around the asparagus plants – mulch that the birds can’t scratch out and fertiliser all in one.
