Tomato seeds and lunch

A couple of days ago I moved seedlings from the glasshouse onto the grass and covered them to protect from the sun (it’s been very hot and dry) and also from white butterflies.  I’ll plant these sometime this coming week.

Today I looked at the sprinklers in the tunnelhouse and discovered why the tomatoes are not being very well watered – 2 of the jets were blocked.  Everything is watering well now.

I’m saving the seeds from an Island Bay tomato and a red with green striped tomato (came in the seed packet with Alma, maybe Tigrella).  I squeezed the seeds into separate jars and half filled them with water.  This will ferment over the next few days resulting in the removal of the gelatinous covering on the seeds.  I will then rinse the seeds well and dry them on paper towels before storing them for planting later in the year.

I had a fantastic lunch today, everything from home.

Clockwise from the top:
tomatoes, bread, cheese, liver, cucumber and strawberries – YUM!
