Apples, pumpkins

Over the last few days we have been processing the apples we picked in late April:
1) all red apples are now in the fridge for eating over winter
2) 36 apples (Monty’s surprise and Granny smith) were cored and frozen to use as desserts – baked apples – over winter.
3) The remaining Granny smith apples are being cored/sliced/peeled and then dried.  We are able to dry 15 trays of apple slices in a batch as I bought more drying trays.

Yesterday I removed the seeds from the oil seed pumpkins, washed and dried them.  I have saved 20 lovely looking seeds to be used for planting next year.  Two of the oil seed pumpkins were a different shape (oval not spherical) and colour (green, no orange stripes).  These pumpkins had a lot of seeds, but the seeds had shells on them.  From the remaining 4 oil seed pumpkins I collected 750ml of dried seeds.
