Olives and corn meal

Ben and I and neighbours Rob and Maria picked olives at Lisa’s place on Saturday (7 Sept).  They are a mixture of table and oil olives.  Maria took them home and has salted them using a dry cure method.  I can’t wait to try them!

Salted olives

On Tuesday, I brought in the corn that had been drying in the shed all winter.  Ben and Izzy removed the kernels from the cobs.  That evening, Ben and I put the corn mill together and had a go at grinding corn.  Last night I made corn bread with the meal.  It was delicious.  It had an interesting greenish colour because of the mix of blue and yellow kernels.
