26 October was the day for planting out the tomato and basil seedlings. This meant giving the tunnel houses one last weed and a jolly good watering before planting. Not only did I have my own seedlings to plant, but also the 10 that Anne Pears gave me. We could be swimming in tomatoes next year!
I also planted out 2 parsley plants and 2 thyme plants that I bought. Jill (dog) keeps lying on the existing ones and the children love to eat the parsley; so I’m trying some out in the garden where they will be safe from dogs and children!
While we were away in the school holidays, I covered the newly planted brassica etc seedlings with microklima cloth. On 26 Oct I removed it in order to plant the onion seedlings and found that rogue potatoes had grown very vigorously, also that the corn and cucumber seedlings had died during a really cold snap while we were gone.
I planted out 9 rows of onion seedlings with 10 plants in each row. They are a nice size and are very tasty so far!
