Apples, grapes, pumpkins, seedlings

27 March I picked apples – all of the Kidd’s Orange Red, Braeburn and Gala.  These were sorted into 4 grades:
1 – perfect – stored in the outside fridge
2 – almost perfect, very small holes – stored in the outside fridge, will be used before the perfect apples
3 – small holes – stored in the inside fridge for immediate eating
4 – large holes – for slicing and drying

The outside fridge is full of apples, these are spread on the racks so that they are not touching one another.  One of the bins of the inside fridge is full of apples and we have 4l of sliced, dried apples.

Front left = Kidd’s Orange Red (x15), front right = Braeburn (x8)
Back = Gala

2 April I picked the grapes, they are not quite ripe, but the wasps and birds are getting them.  By 7 April they are perfect for eating.

Yum!

I also picked the last of the zucchini, the last of the basil, the last of the cucumbers, more tomatoes, the butternuts (16 altogether), the oil seed pumpkins (15 altogether) and the pears (one bin of the inside fridge is full of perfect pears and there is a bag full in the freezer).

Butternuts and pumpkins – all on the deck for further ripening.

3 April I planted the pea and broad bean seedlings.

Broad beans in the front, peas in the back.

7 April I planted out the lettuce, rocket, celery, silver beet (all in Bed 4), broccoli, cauliflower and cabbage seedlings (all in Bed 2).
