Harvesting and tidying

Around 16 Feb, I spread horse manure that I had gathered in the barn paddock around the fruit trees.  It was so dry that I was able to place each chunk and make little rings around each tree.

On 18 Feb, Rob came and helped in the garden (he’s been doing that a bit lately and does a really thorough job).  Today’s task was cutting back the bamboo.  I saved many poles as it will be a while before there are enough to use again.

While he was doing that, I pruned the tomatoes and basil, picked nectarines, tidied up the rhubarb clump and weeded bed 5 (strawberry/potato bed).  I also sowed a tray of flax seeds – Paul and I gathered the seeds from the plants down along the roadside.  I bought some Vigilant II herbicide (a dab on blue gel) and tried it out on some whitey woods in the rhododendron/camellia bed.

20 Feb, Rob was back and weeded the area with the blackberry bathtub.
