Wintersweet (Chimonanthus praecox) is one of my favourite winter shrubs.  It has flowers which when viewed from afar are quite insignificant, but up close are quietly beautiful.  But it’s the scent that is amazing!  It wafts around the house and takes you by surprise as you walk around the yard.
