I looked at the garlic on New Year’s Day and decided that I would harvest it all. There were several heads where I could bend the top over and it would stay down and a few where the heads were getting soft and beginning to rot.
I’ve ended up with 14 heads of elephant garlic (seed cloves given to me by Maria), 8 heads that were beginning to rot and 89 heads of excellent garlic! The heads are large and the cloves look pretty good also. All of the garlic has been hung from beams in the barn to cure. There are 5 heads in each bunch.
