Over the last few weeks, the most delicious smell has been wafting through the garden – Daphne. Too bad I can’t photograph the scent for you to share with me.
It’s been a long time since I have done anything in the garden. We have moved back into our house after earthquake repairs and have completed unpacking. Now I’m spending all of my free time scanning old paper photographs.
Today, I sat out in the sunshine and removed the seeds from the 16 oil seed pumpkins I’ve been storing. The yield was quite low this year – less than 1/2 bowl (about 1 litre). Now I have to roast them. Because of the low yield, I think that I will start plants from commercial seeds rather than my own stock – they may have cross-pollinated with other cucurbits.
