Away again, asparagus and weeding…

Well, we’ve been away again.  This time for a week in Fiordland and then 3 weeks in Germany, Czech Republic, Slovakia and Austria with part of our son’s school choir.  It was a great trip – lots of cities, lots of fantastic cathedrals where the boys either participated in mass services or performed.

I’ve just been out to the garden and picked 1/2 basket of asparagus!  While I was there I also found 4 broad bean pods and weeded all of the beds except the old strawberry patch (it needs more attention).  The thick layer of pea straw that I laid down earlier in the year is paying off – hardly any weeds.
