We have been away for 3 weeks in September/October. This means that I didn’t plant seeds of my own, but resorted to buying seedlings when we returned. I’ve FINALLY managed to plant them all.
Here you see the seedlings that go into the vegetable garden, there are also tomatoes and a chilli for the glasshouse.
On 1 November I planted the first batch of seedlings around the bean frame:
Celery x 6 (to the right of the frame)
Snow peas x 11 (right hand end of frame on the netting)
Lettuce – gourmet coral x 8 (inside the frame)
Beans – scarlet runner x 9 (left hand end of the frame on 5 strings)
Broccoflower romanesco x 8 (to the left of the frame)
3 November I decided that I really should tidy up the glasshouse so that I could get to the watering cans and use it to store the remaining seedlings.
4 November, I planted more seedlings in beds 1-3:
Corn – summer sweet x 16 in a 4×4 grid (near left end of Bed 1)
Silverbeet – rainbow x 9 (far left end of Bed 1)
Zucchini – green x2 (left end of Bed 2)
Squash – butternut x2 (left end of Bed 3)
Leeks – ~24 (Bed 3)
Brussel sprouts – Cambridge x8 (Bed 3)
Today, 6 November, I repaired the left hand tunnel house, completely weeded it (a hot, dusty job!) and planted all of the remaining seedlings:
Basil – sweet (3 punnets on right side)
Pepper – Carolina Reaper x1 (left side)
Tomatoes – Moneymaker x6 (left side), Early girl (back), Potentate (right side)
The nectarine trees are badly affected by leaf curl this year. As we were away so much and the weather was so wet, I did not spray them with copper oxychloride…
