Garden beauty

I was cutting the dead stalks off the globe artichokes the other day.  There were several large heads that had gone to seed – they are very beautiful…

Jerusalem artichokes are ready to be dug up.  I filled 1/2 a bucket from a single clump

I visited the neighbour and found this glorious calyx/berry combination – Clerodendrum trichotomum var. fargesii.  The shrub has fragrant white flowers in the summer.
