Bees and fruit

This afternoon, I picked the remaining stone fruit – peachcots and peacherines. They taste a little like canned peaches. There is no doubt that peaches, nectarines and apricots taste better than these, but these are nice because they come so late in the season.

A couple of weeks ago, we were given honey by the people who have hives on our property. I cleaned out the honey box from last year and put out the remains of the wax for the bees to clean up. It was amazing to see how quickly the bees found the honey and how many came to carry it home for winter supplies – that is truly recycling!
