I was checking the remaining pumpkins that I have had stored over winter and found that three of them were starting to rot. So I chopped the good one in half and roasted it in the oven – YUM!
I took the other three out to put in the compost pile and realised that none of the seeds from these lovely pumpkins (Hopi grey winter) had grown this year. So I went to look for somewhere to ‘plant’ the pumpkins. I ended up at the area covered in black plastic beside the globe artichokes. I was able to quickly remove the weeds as they don’t have deep roots when they are on the plastic.

Then I went to pile of composting horse manure and took about eight shovels full over to the cleared area. I piled this onto two holes that were already in the plastic and placed the rotting pumpkins onto the top of the manure piles. Let’s see if anything grows!!!
