Starting on the mulch & grape cuttings

I made a good start on getting beds 1, 4 & 5 mulched today. I completed Bed 1 and 3/4 of Bed 5. I also weeded several of the paths. Once I finish mulching Bed 5 and Bed 4, I’ll clear off all paths – the birds have been really bad this year and have scratched lots of straw out onto the paths. They’ve also eaten all of my winter lettuce crop!

I also took some grape cuttings from some of the pruned branches. I made angled cuts at the base end and straight cuts at the tip end so I could tell which end was up. I’ve dipped the base end into rooting hormone and placed all cuttings in water. Hopefully these will grow roots over the next few weeks and I’ll be able to pot them up until the spaces out in the orchard are ready to plant them in.
