Leeks and basil

Today I planted out the leek and basil seedlings. I separated out 24 individual leek plants and planted them in 4 rows of 6 – these will be the main winter leek crop. The remaining seedlings were planted out in 12 clumps – I’ll use these over the summer as baby leeks.

The basil went into the tunnel houses – two clumps per tunnel house. In the southern tunnel house, I replaced a dead tomato and a dead chilli with basil; in the northern tunnel house, I cut two new holes in the weed mat for the basil clumps.
