Seeds and garlic

My first tasks out in the overgrown garden were to sow brussel sprout and celery seeds, and to harvest the garlic. The garlic was quite hard to find – half of it was under the parsnips and silverbeet plants; I had to use secateurs to trim plants back so I could get to the garlic plants!! The garlic tops that were under the other plants were starting to rot (takahue variety) and the heads were still OK. The other garlic was fine and starting to send up flower stalks (large purple rocambole). I hung the plants up to dry – there are 45 of the rocambole garlic (planted 50) and 41 of the takahue garlic – 7 had rotted tops and were immediately brought inside (planted 50).
