Plant removal has begun!

Youngest son came out into the garden with me today – he was willing to remove the large plants for me. I was really pleased as there were a lot of them and he is a lot stronger than I am! While he was filling the compost bins with the large plants (mostly parsnips, carrots, silverbeet, fennel), I completely weeded Bed 1. My weeding mainly went into the rubbish pile – there were many potato plants (with potatoes that would grow in the compost) and other weeds that I didn’t want in the compost. I ended up filling the large wagon so that I was barely able to push it without the heaped weeds spilling off the top of the pile.

The garden looks so different now! I still need to get into the remaining beds and do a finer weed, but the majority of the plants are gone.
