Weeding, shield bugs and seed sowing

Today I completed the weeding of Beds 2 & 3. As mentioned in an earlier post, youngest son helped by ripping out the large plants that were going to seed. So I removed the smaller weeds today.

While working out there, I noticed that there were HEAPS of shield bugs out there among the plants. You can see several bright green spots in the photo below – they are the shield bugs. There is also another type of a different colour – black with white spots – visible in the shade in the bottom right corner.

I also sowed some winter vegetable seeds:
Cabbage – January King x 6
Cabbage – Red rock mammoth x 6
Cauliflower – Purple cape x 12
Broccoli – Purple sprouting x 6
Broccoli – Romanesco x 6
Chard – Ruby x 4
