We’ve been away for a month and everything has been growing in the late summer weather. Eldest son has been harvesting (and eating) vegetables. It’s great that he enjoys them so much.
A few days ago, I harvested all of the beans that were ready for picking. I shelled them all out of a couple of days. I have saved the best of each as seed for planting in spring – they are currently drying. I have frozen the rest for eating over winter.
Today I picked the ripe pumpkins – 3 butternut squash, 8 Austrian oilseed and 11 Hopi grey winter. There are still a few on the vines, hopefully these will ripen before the first frosts.
