I bought a few seedlings in town. We have been away so much of December and part of January that I didn’t sow seeds for winter crops of leeks, brussel sprouts and celery. I didn’t think they would survive without frequent watering while we were away and sowing seeds now is a bit late for them to really get going before winter.
Yesterday it rained (22mm) and today was cloudy, a little drizzly and cool. So I decided to plant out the new seedlings:
20 x leek winter giant*
6 x beetroot cylindra* (I thought I’d bought chioggia….)
6 x lettuce leaf mix*
6 x brussel sprouts maxim ^
6 x celery tendercrisp 2000^
6 x parsley afro^ (in herb patch near house)
3 rows of carrot seeds on tape – All season variety. I covered these to stop the birds scratching up the tape and will water them each day with the watering can until they germinate.
